Grenada is a Caribbean hideaway and one of the few places on earth where you can experience true local culture blended with the modern necessities.
Grenada is also known as the "Island of Spice" because of the production of nutmeg and mace crops along with Cinnamon, cloves, ginger and allspice and one of the world's largest exporters.
Grenada is without doubt a diamond in the Caribbean.
The 3 km long Grand Anse Beach in St George is considered as one of the finest beaches in the world. Besides several other excellent beaches, a great tourist attraction in Grenada are the waterfalls. And with a population under 150,000, its not exactly crowded.
Grenada is generally considered one of the safer parts of the Caribbean, though one should use the cautions as in the UK.
In 2004, the island was directly hit by Hurricane Ivan, which damaged or destroyed 90% of the island's older style homes. The following year, Hurricane Emily struck the northern part of the island causing further damage.
